EMCDDA to host annual informal meeting of UNODC Afghan Opiate Trade Project (AOTP)

European and international experts meet in Lisbon on 9 September 2013 to discuss latest changes in opiates trafficking routes from Afghanistan. The third informal meeting of the UNODC Afghan Opiate Trade Project (AOTP) will be hosted by the EMCDDA and involve around 30 participants from EU Member States, Turkey, Russia, the United States and international organisations such as the African Union. Leading specialists will share knowledge and expertise on the diversification of heroin and precursor chemicals trafficking routes and methods, and on the emergence of consumer markets in new regions such as Africa and the Balkans.
