EU4Monitoring Drugs (EU4MD) interactive timeline

As part of its ongoing commitment to strengthening cooperation and sharing expertise, EMCDDA developed the EU4Monitoring Drugs (EU4MD) project, funded by the European Union. The project has been running from 2019 until 2022 and involves countries in the European Neighbourhood Policy (ENP) area. It supports national and regional readiness to identify and respond to drug-related security and health threats. October 2019 ‘Drug policy evaluation’ workshop The workshop took place on 29−31 October in Zagreb, Croatia, and it was co-organised with the EMCDDA National Focal Point in Croatia. A total of 17 participants from Armenia, Belarus, Jordan, Palestine*, Moldova and Ukraine attended. Capacity building
December 2019 ‘Darknet drug-related investigations’ regional training for ENP-East The workshop took place on 2−4 December in Chișinău, Moldova, and it was co-organised with the Ministry of Interior. A total of 24 participants from each of the 6 ENP-East partner countries attended. Capacity building
January 2020 ‘Darknet drug-related investigations’ regional training for ENP-South The workshop took place on 27−30 January in Amman, Jordan. It was co-organised with the Anti-Narcotics Department of the Public Security Directorate. A total of 25 participants from 7 ENP-South partner countries attended. Capacity building
March 2020 Study using European Treatment Facility Survey Questionnaire launched First multi-country seminar with ENP-East partners was organised on 18 March. It was attended by experts from Armenia, Belarus, Georgia and Ukraine. First multi-country seminar with ENP-South partners was organised on 28 July. June 2020 ENP partners implemented the 2021 European Websurvey on Drugs Georgia, Lebanon and Ukraine implemented the European Websurvey on Drugs for the first time. The research teams participated in a series of training sessions during 2020−21 and implemented the national online survey in spring 2021. Top-level findings from the surveys are available for Ukraine (in en and uk), for Georgia (in en and ka) and for Lebanon (in en, fr and ar). Study
October 2020 Training on 'Clinical guidance on New Psychoactive Substances' 18 health care professionals attended four online sessions training on clinical guidance on new psychoactive substances, co-organised with EU funded EU-Act project and NEPTUNE. Capacity building
January 2021 Study on non-fatal drug-related emergencies launched Sentinel hospitals from Algeria, Lebanon, Israel, Tunisia and Ukraine joined the European Drug Emergencies Network (Euro-DEN). March 2021 EMCDDA Webinar 'COVID-19 and drugs in the European neighbourhood: lessons learned from Ukraine and Georgia' The webinar took place on 25 March. May 2021 ENP partners join European Syringe Collection and Analysis Project Enterprise (ESCAPE) Research teams from Lebanon, Tunisia and Ukraine joined the ESCAPE network to collect and analyse data on drug residues in used syringes. Ukrainian team managed also data collection in Moldova.
