The workshop was organised in close cooperation with the Ministry of Security, with the aim at assisting the relevant national experts in supply and data collection to collect, analyse and appraise national drug seizures according to the EMCDDA protocol. Participants were encouraged to report on the data collection processes carried out by their institutions for the years 2011 to 2015, and 2016 when available. The workshop was preceded by several meetings between the EMCDDA staff members and the authorities of the Republic of Srpska, namely the EU Delegation Office in Banja Luka, the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Srpska, the Institute of Public Health of the Republic of Srpska and the psychiatric ward of the Banja Luka Clinic Centre.
Following this workshop, the representatives present agreed to adopt the EMCDDA standard table data collection tool on drug seizures at all levels in Bosnia and Herzegovina from 1 July 2017 onwards. They stated, however, the need to receive a technical training, preferably before the beginning of July, aiming at helping the data managers from all the different entities and cantons of Bosnia and Herzegovina to use the data collection tool in line with the EU standard.
