The data presented here cover a broad range of areas including the most recent estimates of treatment and prevalence, drug-related infectious diseases, high risk drug use estimate, levels of drug related deaths, drug related crime in the form of drug seizures, types of offence, price, purity and use in prison, and country responses to the drug situation in Europe.

Date of last update: 27 May 2014.

The data is largely based on data submitted to the EMCDDA by the Reitox network of focal points and is the result of close cooperation between focal points and experts at the country level, and the EMCDDA at the European level.

To get started browsing the latest data on drugs in Europe, first select a starting point. Each option below provides you with a different way of exploriing the data so select the one that best suits your needs.

Data tables by topic

Select this option to view datasets by topic and category, for all countries. All available data is shown.

Search by country [beta]

Select this option you to view data for one or more countries. Good for comparing data between countries.

Visualise (not currently available)

Select this option to explore the data visually through maps and charts.

Custom query [beta]

Use this option to quickly find an answer to a specific data question or build a custom table.
Note: please note that this is feature has been released in beta version. Also see the technical notes regarding browsers below — older browsers are not supported.

Technical notes

The following browsers are supported: Chrome 9 and later, Firefox 4 and later, Internet Explorer 9 and later, Safari 5 and later. Other browsers may also work but haven't been tested. Because of the quantity of data, the data is currently only available as an interactive product (i.e. you must have JavaScript enabled, which is the case by default on most browsers).

Our aim is to make this data available to as many users as possible so, if you have specific needs or encounter technical difficulties, please do not hesitate to contact us at online@emcdda.europa.eu.

Much of the data can be viewed directly in your browser, though some data is only available as downloaded Excel files.

Custom query — build your own table

This is where you can create your own table from our data. To get started, you need to filter the data with keywords — this will return a list of data which match your keywords, each of which will be presented as a column in the final table. You can add as many variables as you like to your table. By default the tables rows are always country names.
