Step 1: Resources
- Geographical risk assessment (NIDA map). A Topography of risk and protection perspectives graphic.
Epidemiology
- ESPAD Summary of the 1999 findings. In 1999, the second data collection within the European School Survey Project on Alcohol and Other Drugs (ESPAD) was conducted in 30 countries, four years after the first one.
- Population and social conditions, European Commision, 2002. Health information and knowledge, including statistics, reports, reviews, analyses and advice on issues of common interest to the Community and to Member States.
- Health and health behaviour among young people (WHO, 2000). The HEPCA series consists of reports on particular topics of high political relevance, including survey data on child and adolescent health, reports on specific health situations and suggestions for future investment in health policies for the young generation.
- Report on the state of young people’s health in the European Union (European Commission, 2000). The report primarily aims at taking stock of the present health situation of young people in Europe, and tries to identify health trends for this population over recent years.
Markets and norms
- Environmental strategies for substance abuse prevention (Monograph, D. A. Fisher, 1998). Analysis of the effectiveness of policies to reduce alcohol, tobacco, and illicit drug problems.
- Binge drinking: Nature, prevalence and causes (IAS fact sheet, UK, 2005)
- Community risk factors
- Samhsa/CSAT Treatment improvement protocols — Substance use among adolescents
Social conditions
- Mapping and tracking vulnerable young people (JRF, UK, 2001). A range of agencies collect information on and deliver services to ‘vulnerable’ young people. Developments in information technology enhance the possibilities of linking information from different sources to ‘map’ caseloads from different agencies and to ‘track’ individual young people as they move between agencies and/or as their circumstances change.
- Annual review of working conditions in the EU, 2004–2005 (Eurofound, 2005). This second annual review of the European Working Conditions Observatory (EWCO) summarises the main developments, at EU level, in the area of working conditions and quality of work and employment. It refers to the period April to December 2004.
- Population and social conditions, European Commission, 2003. Health information and knowledge, including statistics, reports, reviews, analyses, and advice on issues of common interest to the Community and to Member States.
- Health promotion, health monitoring, and injury prevention, European Commission, 2000. The report primarily aims at taking stock of the present health situation of young people in Europe, and tries to identify health trends for this population over recent years.
- Health and health behaviour among young people (WHO Policy series, Issue 1, 2000). The series Health Policy for Children and Adolescents (HEPCA) is a WHO document series mainly based on results of the international survey ‘Health Behaviour in School-aged Children’ (HBSC) and on other relevant international studies. It focuses on the implications of scientific results for health policy in developed countries.
