Instrument Areas of evaluation Aspect being evaluated Target population Language
Adolescent Drug Involvement Scale: ADIS
ADIS was developed as a research and evaluation tool to distinguish heavier, problematic drug users from users less involved in drug use and experiencing minimal problems related to their use.
Prevention Outcome, Needs and planning Adolescents, Adults, Special populations en
Assertiveness
Many programmes attempt to teach young people the skills to withstand social pressure. Note: in these instruments a low score means a high level of assertiveness.
Prevention Outcome, Mediating/risk factors, Needs and planning Adolescents, Adults, Children en, es, ro
Attitudes to Drug Use
Attitudes are dispositions to evaluate an object either positively or negatively. In general, while they are important context measures, they do not predict actual behaviour very well. They should not be used as a substitute for measures of behaviour.
Prevention Outcome, Needs and planning Adolescents, Adults en, es, ro
Awareness of Community Projects
A scale adapted from evaluations of a number of community projects that sought to establish the extent to which people were aware of and participated in community programmes.
Prevention Process Adolescents, Adults, Children en, es, ro
Beliefs about Consequences
Beliefs about the consequences of drug use can be categorised in two ways: whether they are (i) positive or negative and (ii) short-term or long-term. Such beliefs are more closely related to behaviour if focused on personal use and in specific contexts.
Prevention Outcome, Needs and planning Adolescents, Adults en, es, ro
Bonding to Conventional Institutions
Designed to assess the bonding to institutions (family, school, community, religion, police). Evidence shows that it is a restraining factor in substance use and an important mediator factor for the efficacy of interventions.
Prevention Outcome, Mediating/risk factors, Needs and planning Adolescents, Adults, Children en, es, ro
Coping Behaviours Inventory (CBI)
The Coping Behaviours Inventory (CBI) is designed to assess the behaviors and thoughts used by alcoholics to prevent, avoid or control the resumption of heavy drinking.
Treatment, Prevention Mediating/risk factors, Needs and planning Adolescents, Adults en
Counselling Skills in Drug-dependence (in Greek)
Designed to evaluate the implementation process of a particular educational programme.
Prevention Process Adults el
Decision Making Skills
The measurement of decision making skills is of particular relevance where a programme emphasises personal decisions. Note: in the instruments on Decision Making Skills a low score means a high level of decision making skills.
Prevention Outcome, Mediating/risk factors Adolescents, Adults, Children en, es, ro
Drug Abuse Screening Test (DAST-20)
The DAST is designed to identify individuals who are abusing psychoactive drugs and to yield a quantitative index score of the degree of problems related to drug use and misuse.
Treatment, Prevention Outcome, Mediating/risk factors, Needs and planning Adults en, fi
Drug Use Disorders Identification Test - DUDIT
Screens effectively for drug-related problems in clinically selected groups and may prove useful in the context of public health surveys.
Treatment, Prevention Needs and planning Adolescents, Adults en, fr, de, es, pt, da, no, sv, fi, hu, nl, hr, is, tr
Drug Use Disorders Identification Test Extended - DUDIT-E
The DUDIT-E maps the frequency of illicit drug use, the positive and negative aspects of drug use, and treatment readiness.
Treatment, Prevention Needs and planning Adolescents, Adults, Special populations en, fr, de, ru, pt, da, no, sv, fi, hu
Educational Seminar for New Personnel (EQESNP) evaluation
Designed to evaluate the implementation process of a particular educational programme.
Prevention Process Adults el
Evaluation of Local Activities (in Slovenian)
'Aktivnost' (Activity) is an evaluation instrument/questionnaire), which could be used for evaluation of many activities implemented by Local action groups (LAGs) or other programmes (eg. evaluation of lectures, workshops, seminars...)
Prevention Process Adults sl
Experienced Effects of Drug Use
Experienced effects indicate the extent to which respondents have actually experienced particular effects of drug use, rather than whether or not they believe that particular outcomes will occur.
Prevention Mediating/risk factors, Needs and planning Adolescents, Adults, Children en, es, ro
Eysenck Personality Questionnaire - EPQ-R, short version
The EPQ is a questionnaire designed to assess the personality traits of a person.
Prevention Outcome, Mediating/risk factors Adolescents, Adults it
Familiarity and Awareness of Drugs
While knowledge measures are not frequently used, largely because they are found not to predict behaviour, they might be of interest for some evaluations.
Prevention Outcome, Needs and planning Adolescents, Adults en, es, ro
Intention
There is considerable evidence that 'intention' is a powerful predictor of later use. Intentions can also be a useful measure at a relatively young age when measures of use might not be very sensitive.
Prevention Outcome, Mediating/risk factors, Needs and planning Adolescents, Adults en, es, ro
Kinder Stark Machen (in German)
Questionnaire designed to assess the implementation, dissemination and awareness of a programme.
Prevention Process Adults de
Perceived Extent of Drug Problems
Designed to gauge the perception of the size and extent of the drug problem. It is especially valuable in judging the seriousness of a problem.
Prevention Process, Mediating/risk factors, Needs and planning Adolescents, Adults, Special populations, Children en, es, ro
Perception of Risks Associated with Drug Use
The perception of risk is closely associated with 'beliefs about negative consequences'. Note: in the instrument on Perception of Risks Associated with drug use a low score means a high level of awareness.
Prevention Outcome, Mediating/risk factors, Needs and planning Adolescents, Adults, Children en, es, ro
Perception of Social Support/Order
It has been found that degree of perceived social support from parents and friends is a restraining factor in relation to drugs. Note: in the instruments on perception of Social Support / Order a low score means a high level of social support.
Prevention Outcome, Mediating/risk factors, Needs and planning Adolescents, Adults, Children en, es, ro
