It is a 9-item questionaire.

Credentials/Training:

No user manual and no specific training program are required by personnel qualified. A brief training period of several hours' duration is advisable, although it is not essential for personnel such as drug counsellors.

Practicability / usefulness:

Process and Outcome evaluation. To describe client discipline practices and outcomes in residential treatment programs for women substance misusers.

Comments:

The score obtained for an individual can be compared to the scores obtained by the normative sample. TCU/PMES has not as yet had quite the in-depth psychometric development for establishing test-retest reliability and validity that some other instruments for the same purpose have had. Compared to some of the other instruments, TCU/PMES is not as long and complicated, and the items are relatively simple and easy to understand.
