Sixty-second session of the Commission on Narcotic Drugs

The United Nations Commission on Narcotic Drugs (CND), the central UN policy-making body on drug-related matters, holds its 62nd session in Vienna from 18–22 March 2019. The CND meets every year to discuss the global state of drug control and to adopt resolutions to guide the way forward.

In the Political Declaration and Plan of Action on International Cooperation towards an Integrated and Balanced Strategy to Counter the World Drug Problem, adopted by the Commission on Narcotic Drugs in 2009, Member States established 2019 as a target date for the goals set out in the Political Declaration. In light of the 2019 target date, the Commission decided to convene a ministerial segment at its 62nd regular session from 14–15 March 2019, taking stock of the implementation of the commitments made to jointly address and counter the world drug problem. The ministerial segment will include a general debate as well as two interactive, multi-stakeholder round tables, to be conducted in parallel with the general debate.

An EMCDDA delegation will be attending the event to provide technical support to the European Commission and EU Member States, participate in a series of side events and make EMCDDA products available at a publications stand.
