Eurojust–EMCDDA cooperation
The EMCDDA and Eurojust share a common interest in knowledge of the differences between, and the enforcement and implementation of, drug trafficking laws across Europe. For this reason, in 2007 Eurojust designated the National Member chairing the Trafficking and Related Crimes team as the Eurojust contact point for all EMCDDA-related matters. The Eurojust representative was invited to the annual EMCDDA legal experts meetings where trafficking issues were discussed. Comparative information about precursor trafficking laws and national requirements to authorise controlled deliveries has in turn been passed to Eurojust from the EMCDDA.
In 2011, EMCDDA contributed to the Strategic Seminar organised by Eurojust and the Polish Presidency on Drug Trafficking in Krakow, Poland, while Eurojust assisted the EMCDDA in the development of a new European key indictor on drug supply reduction as set out in the EU Drugs Action Plan 2009–12.
A formal cooperation agreement between the Agencies should be signed in 2012.
